Earless Dragon artificial arthropod burrows - 'Spider Tubes'
Artificial arthripod burrows - colloquially known as 'Spider tubes' are used as part of the survey methodology for several species of Earless Dragons. Designed specifically from experience with Victorian Grasslands Earless Dragon Tympanocryptis pinguicolla surveys, Agamid Tech offers a simple and effective option for this survey method.
The Tube
Agamid Tech has custom designed artificial spider tubes to comply with the requirements of the existing federal guidelines, and provide a targeted, cost-effective solution for survey program.
Agamid Tech Spider Tubes are:
Specifically designed interior topology to mimic natural Lycosidae burrow texture, which provides purchase and climability for fauna.
Are easily and quickly installed, lightweight and durable.
Have a quick release feature at the base to ensure fauna or eggs can be removed quickly without harm - and allows for easy cleaning.
Are produced from UV and weather resistant plastic to ensure many survey periods worth of usage, and are exceptionally impact resistant.
Have a plate for marking/serialising or retaining paper for I.D.
The PVC outer tube in installed flush with the ground in a drilled hole, and the inner 'Spider Tube' inserted into it.
The Roof
Design for actual conditions of the Victorian Volcanic Plains, our spider tube shelter/roofs are suitable for summer full sun (UV and temperature) conditions.
Include captive swiveling legs for easy checking, that are chunky to not bend when being inserted into the ground. Light weight for remote installs and fold compact for storage.
